Islamabad, 25 October (HIST). The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad today granted bail to Alima Khan and Uzma Khan, sisters of former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. Both were arrested earlier this month in D Chowk of the capital Islamabad on charges of violation of Section 144.

According to the news of Dawn newspaper, Section 144 was imposed in view of PTI's demonstration in D Chowk. Several roads in the capital were closed in view of PTI standing firm on its decision to protest at D Chowk. Despite the strict police blockade, both the sisters had reached D Chowk. Trenches were dug on a stretch of Islamabad-Peshawar. Police detained more than 100 PTI members, including Imran's two sisters, for allegedly inciting unrest and damaging public property.

Niazullah Niazi, Ansar Mahmood Kiani and other lawyers appeared in the court on behalf of Uzma and Alima. Prosecutor Raja Naveed opposed the bail plea. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court granted bail to both the sisters on a personal bond of Rs 20,000 each.

PTI confirmed the bail approval in a post on Twitter.
