Even before the SCO summit, there is chaos in the neighboring country. There is an atmosphere of terrorist attacks, protests and attacks everywhere. Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Imran Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has ended its protest on Tuesday. PTI has done this because the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of Shanghai Cooperation Organization is about to begin here amid tight security.
The two-day CHG meeting will discuss public cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, environment and socio-cultural relations and review the functioning of the organization. The CHG meeting will be chaired by Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif.
Assurance has been received from the government
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf agreed to end its protest in the capital on Monday night. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has taken this decision after the government's assurance that it will allow a medical team to meet Imran Khan.
PTI announced protest
Ahead of the SCO meeting, authorities had banned all meetings with prisoners lodged in Rawalpindi's Adiala jail, including Imran Khan. Subsequently, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf announced protests to put pressure on the government to allow Khan to visit them in jail. The issue was resolved late on Monday night when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf accepted the government's assurance that Khan would be allowed to meet a doctor on Tuesday.
