Sprouts are considered a powerhouse of energy for fitness lovers. People who go to the gym and exercise often like to eat sprouts on an empty stomach in the morning, so that they can feel energetic throughout the day. Sprouted grains contain a variety of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, which are essential for overall health. 1. Use clean utensils
Always use clean utensils to germinate sprouts, to avoid contamination by bacteria or dirt.
2. Use of safe and clean water
Use clean and safe drinking water to soak and wash sprouts. If tap water is hard or highly chlorinated, either filter or boil it before drinking.
3. Wash thoroughly before soaking
Wash the seeds thoroughly before soaking them. After this, wash and dry the sprouts at least twice a day, every 12 hours. It is advisable to wash every 6 hours in summer.
4. Soak for Sufficient Time
To germinate the grains, soak them in water for at least 6 hours or overnight. Different seeds have different germination times, so keep them separate.
5. Check before eating
Check sprouted grains thoroughly before eating them. If the cereal has become discolored or has a foul odor, throw it away.
6. Avoid eating raw
According to Ayurveda, sprouted grains have cooling nature and can aggravate doshas like Vata and Kapha. If your immunity is weak, then eat them lightly cooked to avoid bacterial infection.
7. Beware of food poisoning
Raw sprouts can cause food poisoning, as they may contain bacteria like Salmonella, E. coli and Listeria, which increase the risk of food poisoning.
