Important role of Farmer Producer Organization in making farmers self-reliant: Deputy Agriculture Director

Jhansi, March 01 (Hindustan Reporter) A three-day workshop of the district's Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) under the Self-reliant Farmers Integrated Development Scheme was concluded in the Vikas Bhawan auditorium under the chairmanship of Sub-Agriculture Director MP Singh.

The Director of Sub-Agriculture said on this occasion that strength lies in the organization. Farmer Producer Organization has an important role in making the farmer self-reliant. Shri Anna cultivation is profitable. He said that FPOs should make farmers aware. Also tell that seeds are available for them in the Agricultural University.

While presiding over the closing session of the 3-day workshop on “Formation and Promotion of Farmer Producer Organizations” under the Self-reliant India Integrated Development Scheme, Deputy Agriculture Director MP Singh said that there is immense power in the organization itself. The central and state governments want to double the income and development of farmers of all categories by taking them along. Farmers growing the same variety of crop should be joined together by FPOs so that they can get the right price for their crop and hard work.

While presiding over the concluding session of the workshop, the Deputy Agriculture Director, while addressing the FPO directors present from the development block Gursarayan and Bamour, said that Maharani Lakshmibai, by assimilating the information given by the experts from some university, will help the farmers of the area in farming. It should be used in farming so that the farmer's income can be doubled.

He laid special emphasis on production as well as processing so that FPOs can get fair prices for their crops. While giving suggestions to the FPO director and farmers present at the conclusion of the three-day workshop organized at Vikas Bhawan Auditorium, he said that farmers can earn good income from drumstick cultivation. Drumstick, rich in nutrients, is considered very beneficial for health. Nutrients like Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Calcium and Iron are found in it, due to which everyone wants to eat it. In such a situation, not only does its demand remain throughout the year but the price is also good. Due to its qualities, the popularity of drumstick cultivation has increased rapidly among the farmers in the last few years, because it provides good income to the farmers at low cost. As much as it is in demand as a vegetable, it is also in demand for medicinal use.

He said that drumstick cultivation is also considered a crop that gives cash and commercial benefits. Drumstick flowers and fruits ranging from small drumstick to big drumstick are available at good prices in the market. Apart from this, oil is extracted from drumstick seeds and is also used. Its fruits are produced twice a year. This plant starts bearing fruits ten months after planting and continues to produce for the next four years. Explaining the benefits of its cultivation, he said that the main feature of drumstick plants is that once it is sown, it gives yield for four years. Its plants do not require much land. It can also be planted next to the house or on the ridge of the field. This tree neither requires much water nor does it require much maintenance.

On the last day of the workshop, Dr. Anil Kumar Rai, senior scientist of Maharani Laxmibai Central Agricultural University, while giving information about Seed Hub Millets, told the FPO directors present that Shree Anna is being promoted by the Central Government and the State Government. Through which the income of farmers will increase.

In the workshop of farmer producer organizations of the district under Self-reliant Farmer Integrated Development Scheme, Dr. Anil Kumar Rai, senior scientist told the farmers of FPO that under Sid Hab Millets, seed production work of seeds of Samba, Kodo, Jowar, Bajra, Ragi and other millets is being done. It is being done at Maharani Lakshmi Bai Central University. Good and quality seeds are being made available to interested farmers. Dr. Anil Kumar Rai told that under the seed production work of Minutes, Maharani Lakshmibai Agricultural University will provide seed production work to the farmers and will buy their crop back from the market by increasing the MSP price by an additional 5 percent, whichever is higher, provided the seeds are pure. And should not be adulterated. In this way, farmers doing farming will get direct benefit and there will be no problem in selling.

While conducting the closing session, subject matter expert Deepak Kushwaha expressed his gratitude to the scientists present and requested the various directors of the FPOs present to ensure that the information given is disseminated to other farmers, so that the farmers can get the right price for their crops. Their income should double.
