Toronto: The Zoom meeting of the National Executive of Rational Society Canada was held under the chairmanship of National President Bai Avtar Vancouver in which Bai Avtar, Balvinder Barnala Toronto, Dr. Baljinder Sekhon Toronto, Navkiran Toronto, Jagroop Dhaliwal Avesford, Surinder Chahal and Gurmel Gill Vancouver, Birbal Bhadaud and Darshan Aujla (Calgary) participated. Baldev Rahpa could not participate due to technical glitch.
The agenda was passed as follows:
1. The National Election Meeting of the Society will be held on 17 May 2024 on Zoom. According to Vancouver its time will be 10 am. Delegates should ensure participation as per their time zone.
2. The units of the society will convene their general meeting in April 2024 to elect their office bearers and national representatives.
3. Constitutional amendments, if any, can be made by the units concerned through their elected national representatives.
4. Where ad-hoc units are constituted, the Executive Committee may take ad-hoc executive members from among them.
5. It was also resolved that Section 295 of the IPC be abolished in India, which is being misused to violate man's democratic right to speak.
6. Cases registered against rational leaders of Punjab under Section 295 should be cancelled.
7. Condolence resolutions were passed expressing grief over the demise of U Kalanathan Kerala, patron and former national general secretary of Punjabi revolutionary poet Iqbal Khan Canada and Federation of Indian Rationalist Association India.
