Delhi Metro: Excise rules of the respective states will apply in case passengers are allowed to carry two sealed liquor bottles in Delhi Metro trains. DMRC has given this information. Apart from the national capital, Delhi Metro also runs in cities of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, excise rules are different in these states.

DMRC said that if passengers are travelling outside Delhi by metro, they need to be careful about the excise rules.

Two bottles were allowed last year

In June last year, the DMRC had allowed a person to carry two sealed liquor bottles in the metro train. The Delhi government had objected to this, saying that it was against the excise rules.

The Delhi Metro operates in Faridabad, Gurgaon in Haryana and Ghaziabad and Noida in Uttar Pradesh. DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar said that the rules made by the Delhi government under the excise policy will be applicable in the metro.

Permission to carry one bottle

According to the Excise Act, only one sealed bottle of liquor like rum, vodka and whisky can be carried from one state to another. The Delhi Metro also goes to cities in other states and allowing a passenger to carry two sealed bottles would be a violation of the Excise Act.

what did dmrc say

If you are travelling by metro in Delhi, UP and Haryana then the excise rules of these states will be applicable in these cities.

DMRC said that if a passenger boards a train with two bottles of liquor in Delhi and travels towards UP, he should understand that he has two bottles to comply with the excise rule of that state. So if only one bottle of liquor is allowed, then he should carry only one bottle.
