SGPC Elections: A special campaign will be run on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm to register maximum number of voters for the Saromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (board) elections. Maximum registration of Keshdhari Sikh voters will be done if they remain eligible.

In this regard, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Madam Sakshi Sahni directed the staff to go door-to-door and register votes so that no voter is deprived of voting. The District Election Officer has directed all the District Returning Officers to ensure that maximum number of votes are cast at their respective polling stations by the Group Booth Level Officers appointed in the Group 11 Assembly Constituencies in the district, which will be held on 21 September (Saturday) and 22 September (Sunday) from 09:00 am to 04:00 pm. He said that maximum registration of Keshdhari Sikh voters should be done. For this purpose, Keshdhari Sikh applicants who have completed 21 years of age on 21.10.2023 will be considered eligible.

Madam Sakshi Sawhney said that all Booth Level Officers will be present at their polling stations on the date and time of the special camp and will do side-by-side verification of the forms (for Kesadhari Sikhs) received (Rule 3(1)). Each such form will be affixed with a recent colour photograph (self attested) of the applicant and will be accompanied by a copy of the identity document of the applicant.

To verify the form by the Booth Level Officer, the applicant's name from the Assembly Electoral Roll, the house number of the concerned applicant and the voter card number have to be found out and applied to the BLO. Your verification report has to be written on the form. Voters whose names are already registered in the Assembly list, there is no need to go door-to-door for verification. Applicants whose names are not even included in the Assembly list, their Gurudwara Voter List Form along with Form No. 6 should also be reimbursed. In this way, when you make No. 6 verification, the Gurudwara Voter List Form will also be verified.

He informed that on the day of the special camp and every day thereafter (on a daily basis) every Patwari will communicate with every booth level officer of all the assembly polling stations under his jurisdiction and will go to the booth level officer and collect the forms. They will collect the forms and maintain their register village wise.

The District Election Officer said that the forms received from the Booth Level Officers (Rule 3(1)) of the Urban Assembly Constituencies will be collected from the Electoral Registration Officers through the concerned Sector Officer after verification, where such forms are collected by the Election Commissioner and Election Cell Staff. The Board Elections will be distributed constituency-wise and sent to the concerned Revision Officers under the notice of this office.
