Impact of increasing tension in Saudi Arabia: Air India and Air India Express canceled flights to Riyadh till 14-15 October

In view of the increasing tension in Saudi Arabia and the recent attacks, the country’s major airlines Air India and Air India Express have extended the period of suspension of operations of all their flights to and from Riyadh. This decision has been taken keeping the safety of passengers paramount, due to which people traveling in the coming days may have to change their plans.

Tension deepens in Saudi Arabia after Houthi attacks

The atmosphere of tension in the entire region has increased significantly after the recent attacks by Houthi fighters on Saudi Arabia’s major airports in Riyadh and Abha. Keeping a close eye on the regional security situation, aviation companies have taken this step. According to officials, both the airlines are constantly closely assessing the ground situation and developments by security agencies, so that any untoward situation can be avoided.

Know for how long will flights remain canceled and what are the options

According to the revised schedule, Air India Express flights to Riyadh will commence soon. 14 October Will remain canceled till now, while Air India flights 15 October Will not be operated till. Earlier, both the airlines had announced cancellation of flights till October 10 only. Apart from this, Akasa Air has also canceled its flights to Riyadh till October 11.

Refund and rebooking facility for passengers

Keeping in mind the problems of passengers affected by the cancellation of flights, airlines have provided relief options. Passengers who wish to cancel their tickets should complete the Refund (Full Refund) being given. Apart from this, Air India Express is also providing the option of rescheduling the journey to its passengers without any extra charge.

Air India Express currently operates 16 flights weekly to Riyadh from major Indian cities such as Bengaluru, Kochi, Kannur and Kozhikode. On the other hand, Air India operates seven flights a week to Riyadh from Delhi and Mumbai. Airlines have advised passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.
