After this, objectionable comments were made against PM Modi on social media by three Maldivian officials. Then opposition to Maldives started in India. Due to this controversy, hundreds of Indians, including many celebrities, canceled their trips to Maldives.

A huge crowd of Indian tourists gathered in Maldives. Statistics show that the number of Indian tourists coming to Maldives has now reached sixth place. According to the data of the Ministry of Tourism of Maldives, out of the total 6,63,269 tourists who came to Maldives till April 10 this year, the maximum of 71,995 tourists came from China.
