IMD issues alert of snowfall, rain and hailstorm in these states till February 19, see forecast!

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released its latest weather predictions, giving information about what is expected to happen in various country regions in the coming days.

According to IMD forecast, the minimum temperature is expected to rise in northwest India from February 17. Moreover, the dense fog conditions prevailing over North India are expected to improve within the next one to two days.

Eastern and northeastern parts of India may receive rain during the last two weeks of February. A warning has been issued about possible hailstorm in specific areas like Chhattisgarh, Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh between February 18 and 20. Similarly, Haryana-Chandigarh, Punjab and Uttarakhand may also receive moderate rainfall and hailstorm on February 19.

Heavy rain/snowfall is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Uttarakhand on February 18 and 19, while an orange alert has been issued due to possibility of heavy rain/snowfall at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh on February 19.

A newly active Western Disturbance is expected to affect Northwest India from February 17, causing light to moderate snowfall/rain with thunderstorm, lightning and hail over the Western Himalayan region till February 21.

Apart from this, light to moderate rain with strong winds is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan between February 18 and 20.

Additionally, a weak Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Himalayan region and adjacent plains from February 22 to 28.

The IMD has also highlighted the possibility of rainfall activity over East and Northeast India in late February due to the low level cyclonic circulation. Meanwhile, dense fog could be seen at isolated places in the morning over areas like Bihar, Odisha, eastern Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.

IMD suggests that as per their statement, the cold wave and fog prevalent in the national capital Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan is expected to end from February 16.
