An interesting incident has come to light in the world of advertising. As mentioned in the advertisement of Emami, a person from Delhi applied in the consumer form after he did not look fair and beautiful even after applying the cream.

After this, the consumer forum accepted the man’s plea and ordered the company to pay Rs 15 lakh to the victim for showing misleading advertisements. In his complaint, the man said that he had purchased the cream in 2013 for Rs 79. He bought this cream after seeing the company’s advertisement. In which it was said that by applying this cream of Emami company, your skin will start glowing. But the result was not as claimed by the company. The cream was applied on the skin as per the instructions given by the company, but there was no glow in the skin. The Central Delhi District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission passed the order against Emami on December 9. The forum said in its order that the cream be applied twice a day after cleansing the face and neck, as it is instructed to improve the complexion soon. However, there was no expression on the face of the complainant.

In this case, it was argued on behalf of Emami that the plaintiff had failed to prove that he had applied the cream properly. Countering this argument, the Forum said, there is no evidence of any improvement in the complexion of the complainant. Of course, the company further argued that factors like diet, exercise, hygiene also have an impact. However, the forum said, these factors are not mentioned on the packaging. Emami also argued that this cream is only for men aged 16 to 35 who are not sick. After hearing all the arguments, the consumer forum came to the conclusion that unfair business practices were adopted by Emami and ultimately passed order against the company.
