Dehradun, 14 December (HS). The 155th passing out parade of the Indian Military Academy (IMA) took the glorious history of the Indian Army and India-Nepal military relations to new heights. The presence of Nepal Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel as the chief guest at this historic event further deepened the military and cultural partnership between the two countries.
Strengthening of deep military ties between India and Nepal
This visit of General Sigdel became a symbol of the shared military traditions between India and Nepal. The harmonious cooperation between the Indian and Nepali armies over the years made this parade historic.
Beginning of new military leadership
During this parade, 456 Indian and 35 foreign cadets completed their training successfully. Newly appointed officers took their oaths of office and wore stars on their shoulders at the peeping ceremony held after the parade. This parade of IMA was not only a symbol of military tradition but also became a celebration of patriotism, dedication and unity.
In step with the first rays of the sun
The passing out parade held at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), one of the most prestigious institutions of the Indian Army, was dedicated to the future military leadership of the country. As soon as the first rays of the sun fell on the historic drill square of IMA early in the morning, the cadets marched with discipline and enthusiasm. Family members, military officers and other distinguished guests sitting in the spectator gallery witnessed this grand event. On this glorious occasion, the chief guest Nepal Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel took the salute of the parade. In his motivational address, he addressed the newly appointed officers and said that you are the officers who bear the burden of the security of the country on the shoulders of the Indian Army. Your every step will be dedicated to the protection, honor and glory of the nation.
Peeping Ceremony, peak of emotions
Piping ceremony was organized after the parade. This was the moment when the stars were placed on the shoulders of the Gentleman Cadets, giving them the distinction of Lieutenant. Families became emotional with pride as they placed stars on the shoulders of their children. Many parents had tears in their eyes while some were seen hugging happily.

After this, all the newly appointed officers took the oath to serve and protect the country, taking the national flag and the Indian Constitution as witnesses. During this, the entire parade ground became drenched in patriotism. The newly appointed officers expressed their resolve by singing songs like “Kadam-kadam badhaye ja, khushi ke geet gaye ja”.
Pride of Uttarakhand, success of local cadets
This year’s parade was also special for Uttarakhand. Many gentleman cadets of the state completed their training and achieved the distinction of becoming officers in the army. His family members said that this is a moment of pride not only for them but for the entire Uttarakhand.
Towards completion and new goals
The parade ended on the tune of “Anthem of the Brave” and inspired all the cadets towards their bright future. The event not only celebrated military leadership but also emphasized mutual respect and partnership between Indian and Nepali soldiers.
Stars shine on the shoulders of 491 cadets
On this historic day, 491 cadets successfully passed out from IMA. These included 155th Regular Course, 44th Technical Entry Scheme, 138th Technical Graduate Course, Special Commissioned Officers (SCO-53) and 35 foreign cadets from 13 friendly countries. Two of these cadets were from Royal Nepal Army. The cadets marched with discipline and enthusiasm to the tunes of patriotic songs like “Saare Jahan Se Accha” and “Kadam-Kadam Badhaye Jaa”.

Reviewing Officer General Ashok Raj Sigdel presented awards to the cadets who excelled. These include Sword of Honor to ACA Jatin Kumar, Gold Medal to AUO Pratham Singh (First in the Order of Merit), Silver Medal to ACA Jatin Kumar (Second in the Order of Merit), Bronze Medal to BUO Mayank Dhyani (Third in the Order of Merit). Cadet Chirag Yadav got first in Technical Graduate Course, Cadet Mahipal Singh got first in Technical Entry Scheme, Prabin Pandey (Nepal). Jessore Company, standing first among foreign cadets, was awarded the Chief of Army Staff Banner for best performance in Autumn 2024.
