Kota, September 8 (HS). The state level function of International Literacy Day was organized on Sunday at Kota's Shiv Jyoti Convent Senior Secondary School, Srinathpuram. Chief guest, School Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar said that illiteracy is a stigma on the country and the state, this stigma has to be erased as soon as possible. He said that about 80 lakh people are still deprived of education, who are being tried to be made literate before the age of 5 years.
The Education Minister, while addressing in Hadoti dialect, called upon the educated people to educate the illiterate people around them so that they can progress in their lives. He said that this would be the greatest virtue. He boosted the morale of the neo-literates and teachers who expressed their views in the function. The Education Minister, while mentioning the work being done for the upliftment and promotion of education, said that not a single post of teacher will remain vacant in 5 years.
In the ceremony, neo-literates and volunteer teachers were felicitated. Sunita Devi, Medha Bai, Hari Singh, Madhu Bai from Kota, Baran and Jhalawar expressed their views on the stage and explained how education has changed their lives. The guests boosted their morale.
Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar, who was presiding, said that education is necessary for everyone. We will be able to fulfill the resolution of a developed India only on the strength of education. He said that special attention will have to be paid to girl education in literacy as well. When given the opportunity, daughters are moving ahead in every field and earning name. Referring to the important steps taken by the Education Minister in the field of education, he said, these efforts will become a milestone in the development of the state.
Special guest Kota South MLA Sandeep Sharma said that until every single person is literate, we will not be able to realize the dream of developed India by 2047. We have to make the illiterate literate and make them capable and competent.
Ladpura MLA Kalpana Devi explained the importance of education through various examples and said that education can change life and the country. She called for educating children and also appealed to parents not to impose their unfulfilled dreams on children. Let them choose the path of their interest. She called upon teachers to contribute in building a developed India with full devotion and dedication.
In the beginning, Director of Literacy and Continuing Education Meghraj Ratanu said that till 2011, 47 lakh people were made literate. In the subsequent years, 91 lakh people have been made literate till now. At present, 80 lakh people are illiterate. This year the target is to make 20 lakh people literate.
On this occasion, a literacy related brochure was released. Additional Director Literacy Snehlata Harit, Joint Director Education Tej Kanwar, CDEO KK Sharma, departmental officers of the division, Director of Shiv Jyoti Convent Senior Secondary School Mahesh Gupta, Shivam Gupta and other dignitaries were present.
