Mathura, 01 April (HS). City Kotwali police raided an illegal arms manufacturing factory in Bhagwati Nagar, Rukmani Bihar on Monday and recovered a huge quantity of ready and half-made weapons as well as equipment for making weapons. The weapons were to be sold to anti-social elements during the elections.
On Monday evening, SSP Shailesh Kumar Pandey said that Kotwali in-charge Ravi Tyagi was going with the police force to maintain peace and check the sale of illegal weapons etc. in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Kotwali in-charge got information that a gangster was running an illegal arms manufacturing factory in Bhagwati Nagar Rukmani Bihar. On this information, the police team reached the spot and raided. During the raid, Yogesh alias Bauna gangster was found there. During the search, the police found a large quantity of finished and semi-finished weapons and also the equipment used in making weapons.
During interrogation of the police, Yogesh alias Bauna Gangster told that earlier he used to do theft and drug dealing, but when the time of elections comes, the demand for country made pistols increases, hence he was running a factory here. Used to change place every two-three days. During elections, country made pistols are sold at very high prices.
The arresting team included Bengali Ghat police post in-charge Nitin Tyagi, BSA College police post in-charge Sandeep Kumar, Bagbahadur police post in-charge Amit Kumar, Bharatpur Gate police post in-charge Abhishek Gupta and police personnel.
