Kanpur, 03 October (Hindustan Reporter). With the objective of leveraging cutting-edge technology for the benefit of society, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG-N) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. . The partnership aims to promote collaboration in disseminating educational content and delivering critical alerts for disaster management and public safety using Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) technology. IIT Kanpur, the lead knowledge partner in the D2M project, will lead technological innovation in this area.
On this MoU, Director of IIT Kanpur, Prof. Manindra Aggarwal and TP Singh, Director General of BISAG-N, signed the agreement in the presence of respected dignitaries and industry leaders. Notable people present on the occasion included Parag Naik, Executive Vice President, Tejas Network, Prof., Member, UGC Committee on Educational Media. Mohammad Qasim and Prashant Maru, assistant vice president, Tejas Networks. This important partnership will not only pave the way for broader collaboration in education and public safety sectors, but will also help in exploring new technological innovations to enhance the utility of D2M technology for various public needs.
Director of IIT Kanpur, Prof. Manindra Aggarwal said on Thursday that D2M technology has transformative potential for India. In a diverse and geographically vast country like India, D2M technology can bridge the digital divide by providing equitable access to education. This innovation has the potential to reach every corner of the country, making quality educational content accessible directly to mobile devices. TP Singh, Director General, BISAG-N, said that BISAG-N has always been at the forefront in adopting emerging technologies to further the cause of education and public welfare. D2M is very promising in revolutionizing the way educational content is disseminated and ensuring rapid delivery of critical information during emergencies. We assure that BISAG will extend full support to ensure its implementation at the earliest.
Parag Naik, Executive Vice President, Tejas Network, said that the deployment of D2M will significantly boost UGC's efforts in providing high quality educational content to students, teachers and the general public. He said that this technology can change the landscape of digital education in India.
