Sambar Recipe : Idli or dosa is incomplete without sambar. If the sambar is bland then there is no fun in eating idli or dosa. Today I will tell you the recipe of making delicious sambar like South India at home.

Materials to create content

1 cup toor dal
2 cups water
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
1 medium carrot, finely chopped
1 saffron pod
1 cup milk, skimmed
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
1/4 tsp cumin powder
salt to taste
2 tsp oil
Coriander, to garnish

How to make Sambar

  • Wash the Tuvar dal well, add water to the pressure cooker and cook till 3-4 whistles.
  • – Heat oil in a pan and add onion, tomato, carrot, milk and saffron and fry for some time.
  • – Then add turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and cumin powder and boil for some time.
  • To make sambar delicious, you can add vegetables of your choice to it.
  • – Now turn off the gas and serve garnished with green coriander. You can serve sambar with idli, dosa or vada.
