  • Rice – 3 cups
  • Urad dal – 1 cup
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Water – as required

How to make Idli

  • First of all, soak urad dal and rice in water for at least 4-5 hours.
  • – Then grind the soaked lentils and rice in a mixer.
  • Keep in mind, while grinding keep adding water little by little so that the batter does not become thick.
  • – Then cover the batter in a vessel and let it rise in a warm place for 8-10 hours.
  • On fermentation the batter will foam and increase in volume.
  • – After this, pour the fermented batter into the idli plate.
  • – Now place the idli plate in the idli steamer and steam for 15-20 minutes.
  • After steaming your idli is ready.
  • Serve them with hot sambar and chutney.
