Mumbai: A young man has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court requesting that his name not be removed from the online order as the details of the judgment show his mother's name as his wife, which is adversely affecting his marriage prospects. Rent agreement case was made available online. He has cited his right to privacy to remain anonymous.
According to the application of this young man, his mother has been shown as his wife. When someone searches his name on Google, the information about this decision is also available and on the basis of that, the searcher gets the misconception that this young man is already married.
The counsel for the petitioner told the high court on Tuesday that the judgment posted online had a typographical error and hence the marriage prospects of the 29-year-old petitioner were adversely affected. A division bench of Justices BP Colabawala and Firdosh Poonawala will hear the matter in two weeks.
The dispute arose out of a 'Leave and Lines' agreement case. The applicant youth won that case but the judgments are available online and contain printing errors.
The judgment being available online has harmed the reputation of the petitioner in the eyes of the public, the petitioner said, and his right to privacy has been violated. Orders which have been declared reportable by the High Court are available online.
He said that the court should take immediate steps to stop the continuous damage to his reputation and personal relationships due to this online misrepresentation. The petitioner's petition states that since the petitioner's mother has been wrongly described as his wife in the court order, his personal life has been seriously affected.
