Heat Wave: Most of the states of the country are experiencing severe heat at this time. At many places the temperature is being recorded around 40 to 45 degrees. According to the Meteorological Department, the next few days will remain dry in many states of North India including Delhi-NCR. Keeping in mind that most people do not fall ill in such weather, the Disaster Management Authority has announced an advisory regarding do's and what not to do to prevent heat wave.
Do this in case of heat stroke
The disaster management authority has asked people to use sunglasses, umbrellas, caps and slippers while stepping out of their homes to avoid severe rain. If you work outside, cover your head, face, hands, feet with a wet cloth. Use an umbrella to protect yourself from the sun. drink more water. Wear cotton clothes. A man/woman affected by heat stroke should lie down in the shade, wipe the bed with a wet cloth and immediately contact a doctor.
Disaster management officials have advised to use home-made drinks like lassi, mango leaves, rice water, lemonade, buttermilk etc. With this the lack of water in the body can be fulfilled. Recognize the symptoms of heat stroke, heat rash, heat camp such as weakness, dizziness, headache, nausea, sweating, fainting and contact a doctor immediately. Keep your home cool. Use curtains, doors etc. Use fans, wet clothes and take frequent showers. Keep cold drinking water at the workplace.
What not to do in heat wave/heat wave?
Never leave informants or children alone in closed vehicles. Avoid exposure to sunlight between 11 pm and 4 pm. To avoid the heat of the sun, stay on the lower floor of the house as much as possible. Do not wear heavy and tight dark colored clothes. Do not do strenuous work when the outside temperature is high. Avoid consuming excess protein and stale and contaminated food and drinks.
