If you are sweating a lot then these could be the reasons

New Delhi: Sweating is a normal and natural physiological process, which is necessary to keep the body cool by maintaining a balanced body temperature, but some people sweat excessively. This creates an awkward and uncomfortable situation, which not only physically confuses the person but also makes the person feel mentally embarrassed while being in the midst of so many people.

The condition of excessive sweating is called hyperhidrosis. Let us try to know in this article what are the reasons for excessive sweating-

Why does excessive sweating occur?

The nerves that control the sweat glands become overactive, causing sweating even though the body does not need to regulate temperature. Due to this, some people start sweating a lot. This is called hyperhidrosis.

Types of hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis can be of two types-

1. In primary hyperhidrosis, sweating occurs for no apparent reason. It may be triggered by stress and often occurs during the day.

2. In secondary hyperhidrosis, there is sweating all over the body and it occurs due to some specific reason, such as menopause, cancer, spinal cord injury. It may also be due to the side effects of some medicines. In this, there is excessive sweating in the armpits, hands and feet.

How to deal with hyperhidrosis?

Use antiperspirant- With its regular use the sweat glands get blocked. It is better to apply it before sleeping at night, so that the antiperspirant does not get washed off with sweat.

Make changes in diet – Some foods like spicy food, caffeine, alcohol etc. activate the sweat glands, causing excessive sweating. It will be beneficial to change such eating habits into healthy eating habits. Eat more water, fruits and vegetables, which help keep body temperature balanced.

Topical wipes- There are also underarm wipes that can be used to treat hyperhidrosis.

Botox – When the problem is severe, Botox injection is given, which blocks the chemical that activates the sweat glands.
