Washington: Republican presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump said on Monday that if he is elected president, he would take Tesla CEO Elon Musk into his cabinet or as an advisor. He further said that he would eliminate tax credits on electric vehicles. Tax credits or tax incentives are not a good thing.
In an interview with reporters in York, Pennsylvania, when asked about removing tax credits or tax incentives for electric vehicles, reporters asked him about Musk: 'He is an unusually bright person, a genius. If he was willing to join the Cabinet, I would take him on, or at least as an adviser.'
It is worth noting that last month Musk openly supported Donald Trump. However, nothing was said about this from Tesla's side. Trump said that he would remove the $7,500 credit rule for automobile companies or ask Congress to introduce a bill to remove it. Actually, President Biden was to give this credit in 2022.
Along with this, Trump also clarified that he has not yet reached a final decision regarding the removal of that credit. He said, 'I am a fan of electric vehicles, even in favor of them, although at present we have to run petrol-powered motors or hybrid motors (both electric and petrol-powered). We will see what happens in the future.'
