Jaipur, 4 November (Hindustan Reporter). On Monday, a massive one-day symbolic dharna was organized by Valmiki Samaj at Jaipur's Martyr Memorial on various demands including recruitment of sanitation workers. Officials of various organizations of the state participated in it. And warned of violent agitation if their demands were not met.
Under the banner of All India Safai Mazdoor Congress, President Kishanlal Jaidiya has called upon the Valmiki Safai community to wage a state-wide struggle for their demands. After this huge protest, a delegation led by Kishanlal Zaidiya reached the Chief Minister's office and submitted a memorandum of demand in the name of the Chief Minister. Where the concerned officials gave him a positive reply and assured him to convey his demand to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
All India Safai Mazdoor Congress President and former Chairman of State Safai Mazdoor Commission, Kishanlal Jaidiya said that under the banner of All India Safai Mazdoor Congress, Valmiki Samaj organized a huge protest at the Government Hostel Martyr Memorial on Monday with several demands and raised slogans. The demand letter was given to the Chief Minister. He said that one of their main demands is that in the recruitment of sanitation workers, priority should be given to Valmiki Samaj, a caste that does traditional sanitation work, and sanitation recruitment should be made reservation free. Apart from this, the time for application should be extended by one month immediately. Also, cleaning staff should not be recruited through lottery but by doing practical cleaning work for three months. Whose daily wages should be paid by the government.
National President of All India Safai Mazdoor Congress Rajesh Beniwal said that the BJP government is anti-Dalit and anti-sanitation labour. It deliberately wants to recruit people from other castes other than Valmiki community in the recruitment of sanitation workers even though they do not do the sanitation work. In this one-day dharna, the sanitation labor class Valmiki Samaj, who came from every corner of Rajasthan, passed a resolution in a huge public meeting that the Valmiki Samaj has not been rehabilitated till date after independence. That is why reservation is not applicable on sanitation workers recruitment. The BJP state government is deliberately trying to snatch away the livelihood of the Valmiki community. Everyone also passed this resolution by voice vote that if the above demands are not met further, the struggle will be intensified. Whose responsibility will be of the state government.
National General Secretary Vijay Bohat said that there is anger among the sanitation workers due to non-compliance of the agreement conditions in the ongoing sanitation recruitment process. Also, appointment orders should be issued in the previous recruitments in which the case is pending in the court or on which the decision has been taken.
Chief State General Secretary Rajesh Garu said that Valmiki community has been ignored in cleanliness recruitment. Valmiki Samaj's rights are being snatched away and others are being given preference. Which is completely wrong, if the government does not take any action in this matter then there will be a fierce movement against the administration by Valmiki Samaj in entire Rajasthan.
