CJP’s stand at Jantar Mantar and open support of Mamata Banerjee
Despite the police action during the Sansad Chalo march and the torrential rain overnight, CJP workers remained at Jantar Mantar. In the morning, the workers themselves cleaned the protest site, while founder Abhijit Deepke apologized to the supporters injured in the police action. Addressing TMC’s Martyr’s Day rally near Birla Planetarium in Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee said the fight against BJP is bigger than personal or political ego, hence she stands firmly with CJP’s just struggle.
Appeal to constituent parties of INDIA alliance to unite
With the aim of reshaping the political equations in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee called upon all the constituent parties of the opposition alliance ‘INDIA’, including Congress and Marxist Communist Party (CPM), to forget their mutual differences and unite. He made it clear that to defeat BJP at the state level, everyone will have to come together under the banner of India Alliance. He said that there is no ego of any kind within him and all the parties should fight unitedly.
Strict stance on rebel TMC leaders: It is not possible for traitors to return to the party
During the rally, Mamata Banerjee made a scathing attack on the leaders of the rebel group for working at the behest of BJP. He made it clear that the leaders who left the party will never be taken back and TMC youth and student workers are fully prepared to fill every vacant spot. He gave an open challenge to the rebel leaders and said that instead of working secretly, they should directly join BJP and contest the elections. Along with this, Mamata Banerjee announced that she will soon start a stormy tour of various districts of West Bengal.
