'If it was made of steel then…' Gadkari's lesson to BJP stuck after Shivaji's statue fell down | News India

Nitin Gadkari on Chhatrapati Shivaji statue: Politics has heated up due to the fall of Chhatrapati Shivaji's statue in Sindhudurg. This has become a big issue in Maharashtra's politics. The ruling coalition NDA is on the backfoot due to this incident just before the elections. Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari said that if Chhatrapati Shivaji's statue was made of steel, it would never have fallen. Nitin Gadkari said that the problem of rusting of iron is more in areas near the sea. This happens especially up to a distance of 30 kilometers from the sea.

Referring to the work of the Highway Authority, the BJP leader said that only stainless steel should be used in the construction of bridges. I know, when I was constructing 55 flyovers in Mumbai, a man fooled me. He coated iron with powder and it was green in colour. He said it will not rust. But when it was installed, it started deteriorating within a short time. If something has to be done at a distance of 30 kilometres from the sea, then it will not work without steel. If steel had been used in the statue of Shivaji, it would not have broken under any circumstances.

PM Modi apologized for the fall of Shivaji's statue

It is normal that where there is hard rock, strong machines will be used for drilling. While other machines can be installed in areas with soft soil. Thus I think the machines can also vary depending on the location. Let us tell you that last week when PM Narendra Modi was on a tour of Maharashtra, he apologized for the fall of Shivaji's statue. He said that Chhatrapati Shivaji is like God to us. We apologize to him and those who worship him. Earlier, CM Eknath Shinde had said that I am ready to apologize by touching his feet 100 times. Apart from this, Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar also apologized for this.
