If it rains in the playoffs, which team will reach the finals, know the rules and equations |Live Updates,Unveiling the Latest India News Trends

IPL 2024 Playoff Rules: The 17th season of the Indian Premier League has reached its final stage. The last match of the league stage will be played on May 19 and then the playoffs will begin. If we look at the schedule of the last phase, the first qualifier match will be played on May 21 while the eliminator will be played on May 22. Qualifier-2 will be played on 24th May and the final match of IPL 2024 is to be played on 26th May.

However, this week we have also seen rainy weather in the final stages of IPL and the playoffs may also get affected by rain. The match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 13 May was abandoned due to rain, creating difficult conditions for GT and then the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Gujarat Titans on 16 May. The match took place. Now the biggest question is that if it rains during the playoff matches of IPL 2024 or if the matches are not held due to any other reason, then what will be the result, it is also interesting to know. So let us know the rules and regulations related to IPL playoffs…

According to the IPL rule book, if at least five overs of play are not played due to rain in Qualifier-1, Eliminator and Qualifier-2, then the winner will be decided with the help of Super Over. If there is no scope for Super Over in these three matches, then the finalists will be decided according to the position of the teams in the points table. For example, suppose if the first qualifier is canceled due to rain then Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will reach the final as they will now be on top of the points table.

Same rule in the final match also?

At present it is not clear whether a reserve day has been kept for the final match or not. However, last year the final match was postponed on the reserve day. There is a possibility that this time also if rain becomes a hindrance on the day of the final, the reserve day will be used. The final match of IPL 2024 is to be held on 26th May at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, that is, if the result is not declared on that day then the final match will be held on 27th May.

It is important that the match starts earlier on the reserve day and starts from where it was left. If rain interrupts the reserve day and at least five overs are not possible in regular time, the winner of the Indian Premier League may be decided by a Super Over. If a Super Over is not possible even on the reserve day of the final, the winner will be decided on the basis of points table, i.e. the table topper will be declared the winner.

Who is in the playoffs?

As of Saturday, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad have confirmed their places in the IPL 2024 playoffs. KKR will remain at the top position. The fourth team for the playoff between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 18 will be decided today.

In IPL 2024, Qualifier-1 is played between the top-2 teams. In this, the losing team gets another chance. They will have to play Qualifier-2, where they will face the winner of the eliminator match played between the third and fourth placed teams in the table.
