Kathmandu, September 24 (HS). Nepal's government university has decided to cancel the exam of the candidate who uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) in any level of examination. The university has made this new rule after incidents of using AI to write answers in examinations from Bachelor to PhD have come to light in the last few days.
This rule was passed in the meeting of the Examination Reform Committee of Tribhuvan University held on Tuesday. In the meeting of the committee chaired by the Dean of the University, Dr. Khadga KC, it was decided to completely ban the use of AI in examinations. A circular was immediately sent to all the colleges affiliated to the university in this regard. Dean KC, while giving information about the implementation of this new rule, said that for the last few days, the same type of answers were being seen in the answer sheets of the examinees. He said that the use of AI was also seen in the thesis of PhD students. According to the Dean, in the Mathematics subject exam, the examinees of some examination centers wrote the answers using Chat GPT.
In the circular sent by the university to the colleges, it has been said that it is necessary to discourage the use of AI to keep the culture of reading books alive among the students. The circular states that due to AI, the originality and creativity of the students is getting weakened. This necessary step has been taken to reduce the misuse of technology and increase the interest of students towards books.
