Bhopal, July 11 (HS). Governor Mangubhai Patel said that the AYUSH department should prepare an action plan for the effective implementation of the Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication Mission. Make provision for the necessary financial budget for the activities of the campaign.
Governor Patel was addressing the review meeting of the Ayush Department at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday. He said that there are vast possibilities of the effective role of the Ayush Department in the efforts to eradicate sickle cell disease in Madhya Pradesh. Various types of natural medicines are available in abundance in the state. There is a rich repository of traditional medical knowledge in the form of tribal community. There is a need to adjust it with modern medical science.
The Governor directed the department to organize camps in tribal dominated areas and share information related to sickle cell treatment with experts of Ayurveda based traditional medical knowledge. Combine their experiences and knowledge. Identify appropriate AYUSH medicines for sickle cell disease. Minister AYUSH Inder Singh Parmar told in the meeting that the department has prepared an action plan for integrated medicine. Cooperation is being done in disease diagnosis efforts in coordination with other medical systems. Medical kit of AYUSH medicines has been prepared for those diseases for which treatment medicines are not available in allopathy system of medicine.
He informed that it is proposed to set up AYUSH mobile units under National AYUSH Mission in Particularly Disadvantaged Tribal Group (PVTG) development blocks. In the first phase, these will be set up in Mandla, Baihar in Balaghat, Dindori, Pushparajgarh in Anuppur, Shahdol, Umaria, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Guna, Tamia in Chhindwara and Dabra in Gwalior.
Tribal Cell Chairman Deepak Khandekar said that the screening of sickle cell anemia disease is progressing at a fast pace in the state. So far, 55 lakh targeted population has been screened. During the screening, 1 lakh 50 thousand patients or carriers have been identified. Governor's Principal Secretary Mukesh Chand Gupta, Principal Secretary AYUSH Anirudh Mukherjee, Governor's Additional Secretary Umashankar Bhargava and other senior departmental officers and members of the Tribal Cell were present in the meeting.
