The country's renowned hospitals are in the grip of superbugs. The presence of all kinds of bacteria from OPDs to patient wards and ICUs of the country's renowned hospitals can prove to be extremely fatal for humans. This fact has come to light in the annual report released by the Disease Control Surveillance Network of the New Delhi-based institute ICMR.
According to the report, samples of about 1 lakh people were taken from the people who visited hospitals between January and December 2023. CSF samples were also taken from the blood, stool, pus, brain and spinal cord of the patients. About 10 types of deadly bacteria were found during the investigation. All these bacteria are internationally recognized as superbugs.
According to the report, Klebsiella pneumonia and Escherichia coli bacteria were commonly found in OPDs, wards and ICUs of 21 hospitals across the country, including Lucknow, Delhi and Chandigarh. Apart from this, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria were also found.

This bacteria is present in the OPDs and wards of almost all hospitals in central, western and southern India. In this situation, it becomes difficult to treat the infection.
