Bhopal, 27 August (HS). The 39th three-day national conference of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) is being organized in Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate this conference on 30 August. More than one thousand tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers and representatives from the tourism sector will participate in this conference which will be held till 2 September at Hotel Taj Lakefront.
Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture Department and Managing Director of MP Tourism Board Shiv Shekhar Shukla said on Tuesday that the main objective of this conference to be held on the theme “Resurgent India Inbound” is to increase awareness about current tourist attractions and to promote experience-based tourism and off-beat destinations in the international markets through IATO.
It is noteworthy that a total of 112.1 million tourists visited the state in the year 2023, while this number was 34.1 million in 2022. Spiritual and religious tourism is currently becoming increasingly popular in Madhya Pradesh. IATO will provide a platform to promote the tourist attractions of the state and develop new tourist circuits focusing on spiritual and heritage sites.

Also, a “Run for Responsible Tourism” will be organized from VIP Road on September 1.
Principal Secretary Shukla said that tour operators coming from different parts of the country will be aware of various aspects of Madhya Pradesh tourism. Madhya Pradesh has 12 national parks, 25 sanctuaries, 7 tiger reserves, 14 UNESCO World Heritage Sites (3 permanent and 11 potential sites). Earlier in 2015, the 31st conference was held in Indore in the state.
