Bhopal, 30 September (HS). Anurag Jain, a 1989 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, will be the new Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh. His tenure on this post will last till August 2025. An order in this regard has been issued late Monday night. In the order issued at midnight by M Selvendran, Secretary, General Administration Department, it has been said that as per the orders of the Governor, IAS Anurag Jain has been temporarily appointed Chief Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Government, on his return from deputation to the Government of India, till further orders. .
In fact, the tenure of current Chief Secretary Veera Rana ended on Monday. Jain has been appointed to this post in his place on the basis of seniority. MP cadre IAS Anurag Jain is currently posted as Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on central deputation. He is considered the officer of the Prime Minister's choice. Before this, he had been given many important responsibilities in the Central Government. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav had also met Anurag Jain earlier during his visit to Delhi. Then speculations were being made that he might return to Madhya Pradesh soon.
The basis of his appointment to the post of Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh is experience and seniority. By making him Chief Secretary, no officer will be superseded. He is on central deputation since 30 May 2020. With his becoming Chief Secretary, there will be good coordination between the Central and State Governments. He will be able to keep the issue of Madhya Pradesh in the center well. While in the Central Government, he has also done coordination work between different ministries.
IAS Anurag Jain has done B.Tech Honors in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1986. He became IAS in 1989, after which he did MA in Public Administration from Maxwell School, America. He has also received many big awards. He was given the Web Ratna Award by the Central Government for e-governance. IAS Jain has interest in information and technology. IAS Anurag Jain is also a very good tennis player. He has won 11 National Awards in this. He also represented Madhya Pradesh in cricket.
Here, outgoing Chief Secretary Veera Rana reached the Chief Minister's residence late on Monday evening and met Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav at Samatva Bhawan. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav presented a bunch of flowers to Veera Rana and appreciated her tenure as Chief Secretary. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav wished Veera Rana all the best for a happy future.
