'I want respect like World Cup winners…', India's legendary badminton player asked the question

After winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title, money rained on Team India. India got the prize money from the ICC but after this the BCCI announced a separate prize money and then the state governments also announced a separate prize money.

Amidst all this, India's legendary badminton player Chirag Shetty has raised a big question on the government. He has said that if Indian cricketers are getting so much respect, then he should also get the same respect. According to Chirag Shetty, he also created history by winning big tournaments like Thomas Cup.

T20 World Cup celebrations across the country

Actually, after the Indian team won the T20 World Cup, there was celebration across the country. People celebrated this victory all night long. When Team India returned, a victory parade was organized in Mumbai in which lakhs of people participated. A felicitation ceremony was also organized for the players at the Wankhede Stadium. The stadium was also full.

Thomas Cup is no less than a World Cup: Chirag Shetty

According to Chirag Shetty, winning the Thomas Cup is like winning the World Cup. When the government honours the World Cup winners, they should have given this honour and recognition to my efforts as well. I am not against cricket. We all celebrated India's victory but the state government did not even honour me, let alone give me a cash prize.

The Indian men's badminton team defeated Indonesia to win the Thomas Cup title for the first time in 2022. Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Ranki Reddy gave India a historic success. After this victory, Chirag Shetty took off his shirt and threw it in the stands and celebrated fiercely. Chirag Shetty has won many medals for India in badminton.
