Kolkata rape and murder case: There is outrage across the country after the rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata's R.G. Kar Medical College. The case was heard in the Supreme Court today (22 August). During the hearing, the Supreme Court made a strong comment on the attitude of Kolkata Police in this case. Justice J.B. Pardiwala said that 'I have not seen such a case in the last 30 years.' The court also questioned the discrepancy between the status report of the CBI and the investigation report of the Kolkata Police and called the attitude of the Kolkata Police suspicious.

During the hearing of this case, the attitude of the bench headed by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud also appeared strict. Then Justice J.B. Pardiwala said, 'The procedure followed by the police in criminal law is not the same as the CrPC. Follows or I have seen in my 30 years. So is it true that the post-mortem has been done after the UD report. The conduct of the Assistant Superintendent of Police is also quite suspicious. Why did he behave like this?'

CBI's case in the Supreme Court

The CBI has claimed in the Supreme Court that, 'The crime scene was damaged and evidence was destroyed.' This argument of the CBI was opposed by the lawyer of the West Bengal government. When the court asked the CBI where the medical examination report was, the CBI said, 'Our problem is that we got the investigation report 5 days after the incident.'

Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud asked, 'Where is the medical test report of the accused?' On this, CBI's lawyer Solicitor General said, 'We have not been given this report.' Then Bengal government's lawyer Kapil Sibal said, 'This is part of the case diary and it has been presented.' On this, the SG said, 'We have reached the crime scene on the 5th day and starting a CBI investigation is a challenge and the crime scene has been changed.'

Chief Justice DY Chandrachud's appeal to doctors

During the hearing of this case, the Supreme Court appealed to the striking doctors to return to work. Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud made an emotional appeal to the doctors and said, 'You should return to work because the patients are waiting for you.'
