Astana: Russian President Vladimir Putin has made it clear that he is taking seriously former US President Donald Trump's claim that 'I can stop the war in Ukraine.'
Addressing the regional security council held here, Vladimir Putin said, “Trump has said that if he wins the presidential election (in America) on November 5, he will immediately find a solution to the Ukraine war.” He actually wants to stop the Ukraine war. We are taking his idea (of ending the Ukraine war) seriously.
In April, The Washington Post reported that Trump had privately devised a peace plan that would allow Putin to retain control of Crimea, which he took in 2014, as well as allow Ukraine to retain control of the Donbass, which has been under Russian control since then (during the war).
