Hyderabad becomes the team with most number of sixes in T20 series, leaves RCB behind

New Delhi, May 20 (Hindustan Reporter) Sunrisers Hyderabad became the team to hit the most sixes in a single T20 series, leaving behind Royal Challengers Bangalore. Hyderabad achieved this feat in the 69th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Punjab Kings on Sunday evening.

On the strength of strong innings by Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen, Sunrisers Hyderabad achieved the target of 215 runs with five balls remaining against Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Sunday.

Hyderabad hit a total of 14 sixes in the match, taking their tally of sixes to 160 in the current edition, while on the other hand, Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have a total of 157 sixes to their name.

Other teams in the list of most sixes hit in T20 series are Chennai Super Kings (145 in IPL 2018), Surrey (144 in T20 Blast 2023) and Kolkata Knight Riders (143 in IPL 2019).

In this match, SRH registered another record in its name in the ongoing IPL 2024. The Hyderabad-based franchise equaled the record of scoring most 200-plus scores in a single IPL edition, six times. Before this, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore have also touched the score of 200 6 times each.

Talking about the match, PBKS won the toss and decided to bat first. A strong half-century by Prabhsimran Singh (71 runs in 45 balls with the help of seven fours and four sixes) and Riley Rossouw (49 runs in 24 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes) and Atharva Taide (46 runs in 27 balls, five fours).
