Husband gets 10 years' jail and fine for shooting dead wife – News India Live


Hamirpur, 01 March (HS). On Friday, Special Judge (FTC-I) Sudesh Kumar sentenced the guilty husband, who shot and killed his wife, ten years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.

Assistant government advocate Maheshchandra Dwivedi said that Santosh Kumar, resident of Jalalpur Churkhi village under Churkhi police station of Jalaun district, had filed a complaint in Maudaha police station on March 25, 2011, saying that he had organized the marriage of his daughter Rajni (26) on May 21, 2004 at Artara police station Maudaha. Had done with village resident Arun Kumar. Since then, Rajni's husband and brother-in-law Rustam and Arun's uncle Motilal, residents of Barkhera district Jalaun, used to harass Rajni and demand fifty thousand rupees and a car. Rajni was living in her maternal home with her children about six months ago. On March 21, 2011, Arun Kumar left with Rajni and children.

On March 25, 2011, information was received over the phone that Rajni had been shot dead by her son-in-law with a licensed gun. In the case, the police had filed a report against the three husband, brother-in-law and uncle. Brother-in-law died during investigation. The police filed a charge sheet in the court against the husband and uncle. After the conviction against the accused husband on Thursday, on Friday, Additional Sessions Judge FTC I Sudesh Kumar, while hearing the point of punishment, imposed ten years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 on the accused husband.
