On behalf of India, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that India will continue to work for the protection of human rights. The Human Rights Council will be given full support by the Indian delegation as well as the High Commission. The spirit of protection of human rights is deeply rooted in the principles and diversity of thought of India's democratic system.
S Jaishankar further said in the virtual address that the time has come to amend the old Constitution of the United Nations, remove any shortcomings in its management and create a multilateral framework accepting the global realities. . It is in the interests of all countries to work together within and outside the United Nations to find lasting solutions to geopolitical and political challenges. Before we can do this, we must make multilateralism at the United Nations credible, effective and accountable. For this, the time has come to change the old constitution.
The United Nations Human Rights Council was established in 2006. This meeting is considered important when the Gaza and Israel war, Ukraine and Russia war are going on in the world. In which political, civil, economic, social and cultural rights will be discussed. The meeting will be attended by representatives of 47 member states as well as independent experts, representatives of various agencies and civil organizations.
