The much-awaited Telugu film of Tollywood’s ‘Global Star’ Jr NTR and veteran director Trivikram Srinivas has got embroiled in a major political and cultural controversy even before its shooting has started. The first look poster of the film and its accompanying caption have caused massive outrage in South India, especially Tamil Nadu. It is alleged that wrong facts are being presented in the film regarding the history of Lord Murugan (Kartikeya) and his birthplace. Regarding this, ‘Naam Tamilar Katchi’ (NTK) chief Seeman has made a strong demand from the state government to immediately ban the film.
How did the whole controversy start?
The root of this entire uproar is the first poster of the film, which was shared by producer Naga Vamsi last month. This poster featured a divine weapon, which looks exactly like the sacred spear (Vel) of Lord Murugan. Sanskrit verses were written along with it. But the real controversy started with a line in the caption, which read: “Born in the North. Made in the heart of the country. Worshiped in the South.”
This caption created a storm in Tamil Nadu, because according to Tamil beliefs, Lord Murugan is completely considered a ‘Tamil God’ and the fact that he was born in North India is being considered by the local people as a direct violation of their history and culture.
NTK chief Seeman’s open warning: ‘Will have to face serious consequences’
As soon as the controversy gained momentum, NTK Chief Seeman issued a very strong statement on the social media platform ‘X’. He gave a direct warning to the makers, saying that if there is any tampering with the history of the six-faced Lord Muruga Peruman, there will be very ‘serious consequences’.
Seeman mainly made three points in his strong statement:

Cultural insult: Showing Lord Murugan as born in the northern plains in the name of creativity is a tampering with historical truth and will not be tolerated at any cost.

Unbreakable Relationship: Lord Muruga Peruman is associated with Tamil culture and lifestyle since time immemorial. Tamils are Murugan and Murugan are Tamils; These can never be separated.

Imaginary stories should be stopped: Efforts to create fabricated and imaginary stories in the name of art should be stopped immediately.
Demand raised for ban in Tamil Nadu
Seeman not only warned but also appealed to the Tamil Nadu government, theater owners and distributors that if the makers of the film do not change these facts, then the film (be it the Tamil or Telugu version) should not be allowed to be released in the state. He clearly said that this film is hurting the sentiments of Tamil people, due to which serious law and order problems may arise at the time of its release.
Makers came on backfoot, caption changed
In view of the huge political and cultural opposition, the makers immediately had to come on the back foot. The line “Born in the North…” was hastily removed from the caption of the controversial post. Later, Junior NTR himself shared this poster with a new and safe caption, which read – “Son of Shiva. Pride of Parvati. Eternal commander. And, once again with Trivikram.”
What is the name and background of the film?
However, the full story and official title of the film has not been disclosed yet by the makers. But according to reports in Tollywood circles, the name of this high-budget pan India film could be ‘God of War’, which will be called ‘Por Kadavul’ in Tamil. Now it remains to be seen whether this controversy subsides after changing the caption or the film will have to face more opposition till its release.
