'How will we be successful in preventing crime?' – DGP Vikas Sahay answered in Gujarat Crime Conference | News India

Vadodara: For the first time in history, Gujarat Crime Conference was organized in Vadodara city. Vanthali Crime Conference was organized in Vadodara City Police Bhavan. In which Gujarat State Police Chief Vikas Sahay was saluted. Police Commissioners and Range IGs of various districts were present in this crime conference. Crime report of their city was presented in this conference.

On this occasion, DGP Vikas Sahay said that today all the police officers of the state have been talked to. If the performance of police stations improves, then success will be achieved in preventing crime directly. For the last several years, Superintendent of Police conducts annual inspection to improve the performance of police stations. Emphasis is being laid on how to improve the functioning of police stations.

The Superintendent of Police should stay overnight wherever he goes. The Superintendents of Police stayed overnight more than 160 times and also interacted with the local people. In the month of August, the officers visited more than 3 thousand villages. Last August, 825 absconding accused were caught.

Along with this, he further said that Gujarat Police is running Tera Tujh Ko Arpan campaign. In the month of August, 327 Tera Tujh Ko programs were held, in which the issue value of Rs 17.05 crore was handed over to the original owners.

In the month of August, 111 cases of usury were reported, out of which action was taken against 163 usurers. Apart from this, English liquor worth Rs 33 crore was destroyed in August. In cyber crime, Gujarat Police recovered Rs 26 crore of cyber fraud in the month of August. A major decline has been seen in the crime rate in Gujarat.

On the Navratri issue, DGP Vikas Sahay also said, “Gujarat Police is committed to proper security. Police chiefs are holding meetings with Garba organisers. Police chiefs have been instructed to ensure tight security at Garba grounds.”
