How to become an umpire?

To become an umpire, first of all a person has to register himself with the state cricket association. This registration is done on the basis of experience of umpiring in domestic matches. After registering at the national level, one gets a chance to umpire in state level matches. After this, on the basis of experience, the state association forwards your name for BCCI umpire.

BCCI conducts the exam

To become an umpire, BCCI conducts a Level-1 exam, which is necessary to pass. BCCI conducts this exam every year. BCCI also conducts a 3-day coaching class before this exam, in which candidates are given an induction course and educated about umpiring.

After this, practical and oral exams are conducted. Those who pass the Level-1 exam will have to appear in the Level-2 exam. After which a medical test is conducted and after that the successful candidates become BCCI umpires.
