Who gets paid how much?
- Under the insurance cover provided by IRCTC, if a passenger injured in a train accident is admitted to the hospital during the journey, then he is given a cover of Rs 2 lakh.
- There is a provision to provide a cover of Rs 7.5 lakh to the passenger for partial disability.
- A cover of Rs 10 lakh is provided to the passenger in case of permanent total disability.
- If a passenger dies in an accident, his family is given a compensation of Rs 10 lakh.
Insurance cover for just 45 paise!
While booking train tickets through the IRCTC app or website, passengers are given the option to opt for insurance during the payment process. IRCTC provides insurance cover up to Rs 10 lakh to rail passengers for just 45 paise. This insurance cover is considered to be the cheapest insurance cover in the world. Tickets can be booked for any number of passengers on one PNR and this insurance is applicable to all of them. So do not forget to avail this insurance while booking train tickets.
