How long will Rajasthan tolerate jokes in the name of law and order: Gehlot | News India

Jaipur, 30 August (HS). Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has put the Bhajan Lal government in the dock in the name of law and order. He has written that Rajasthan is asking “how long will Rajasthan tolerate this misrule of the BJP government and this violence against women”?

The former Chief Minister wrote in a post on social media that in Rajasthan, BJP had run a campaign “Nahi Sahega Rajasthan” on women's safety. The Prime Minister even compared Rajasthan to Manipur and defamed Rajasthan. But after the formation of the BJP government here, crimes against women have increased continuously in Rajasthan in the first six months till June. In six months, there has been an increase of 10.28 percent in cases of female kidnapping as compared to 2023.

He wrote that rape cases have increased by 8.03 percent. Gangrape cases have increased by 7.19 percent. Gangrape cases of minors have increased by 10.16 percent. Till June, 2,758 cases of rape of women and 794 cases of rape of minors were registered. In six months, 3,552 cases of rape were registered, which means 19 girls and women were raped every day. The most worrying thing is that the investigation of 51.79 percent of these cases is still pending.

Gehlot wrote that now Rajasthan is asking, “How long will Rajasthan tolerate this misrule of the BJP government and this violence against women?” Our government had taken several steps to prevent crimes against women, including deployment of Sikau Unit and Additional SP in every district, Nirbhaya Squad, Mahila Desk in police stations, special helpline number, mandatory registration of FIR, facility of FIR in SP office. This government should tell what it has done to prevent crimes against women?
