US Presidential Election Result 2024: America, one of the largest democratic countries in the world, is going to hold elections for the 47th presidential term on 5 November 2024 (today). This time there is a contest between Vice President Kamala Harris from the Democrat Party and former President Donald Trump from the Republican Party. Both have campaigned heavily to strengthen their claims of victory in the elections. But now only the result will tell who has won. The US election is important in many ways, as it is considered to be a key driver of the next global change.

Talking about the presidential election process in America, it is very different. The Electoral College here consists of a group of representatives from each state, who elect the President on the basis of their party. This means that people living in every state of America will vote for their local candidate on November 5 and his victory will be necessary for the next presidential election in the country. In simple words, only the candidate who wins from the state becomes entitled to take the final decision in the presidential election.
use of the electoral college system

US presidential elections use the Electoral College system, which assigns a fixed number of electoral votes to each state. The total number of Electoral College votes is 538. Each state in the country gets two seats in the US Senate, so each state gets two electoral votes. On the other hand, each state gets one representative in the US House of Representatives according to its population. This means that a state with a larger population gets more representatives and electoral votes.

The election formula is as follows

Electoral votes of each state = 2 (Senate representation) + Number of representatives in the state's House of Representatives. This type includes all 50 states and Washington DC. (which gets 3 electoral votes) together make a total of 538 electoral votes. To become the President of the country, a candidate needs at least 270 votes out of 538 electoral votes, which is considered an absolute majority. This system ensures that the President is elected on the basis of balanced representation of the states and not just on the basis of population. Small states should also get proper representation.
