The recent police brutality and firing on students protesting against the examination system and rigging in Siwan district of Bihar has created an uproar in the politics of the entire country. Many students were seriously injured in this fierce firing and lathi charge, out of which one of the injured youth has a direct connection to Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh. In Siwan, youth had taken to the streets demanding transparency in competitive examinations, where during the administrative action, the police crossed all limits of brutality and opened fire with AK-47 and pistols. One of the youth injured in this firing is student Akash Kumar, who is originally from Rae Bareli. Since Rahul Gandhi himself is an MP from Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat, this matter has come to the center of politics of the national capital due to the direct connection of this incident with his parliamentary constituency. At the local level, huge anger is being seen among the students and their families against the administrative negligence and police dictatorship.
After being seriously injured in this unfortunate incident in Siwan, when the victims did not get proper and better treatment and justice in the local hospitals, they went straight to New Delhi with their complaint. Mohammad Arif of Siwan, Bullet Kumar Gaur and Akash Kumar of Rae Bareli met Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in Delhi and narrated their ordeal. The victims told Rahul Gandhi how the police opened fire indiscriminately on the peaceful protesting students, due to which a young man’s leg was badly injured by an AK-47 bullet and his dream of joining the army was shattered forever. These youth going to Delhi to meet the country’s big leaders and sharing their pain proves that how efforts were being made to suppress the voices of the victims at the state level, due to which they had to knock on the doors of Delhi in the hope of justice.
After this entire incident, Rahul Gandhi has adopted an aggressive stance on the social media platform ‘X’ and has made a scathing attack on the Bihar government and the administrative system. Since a youth who was injured in this firing belongs to his own parliamentary constituency, Rae Bareli, this matter has become more sensitive and politically important for him. Rahul Gandhi has said in clear words that opening fire with AK-47 on the youth demanding reforms in the examination system and saving big officials by making small employees as scapegoats shows the utter failure of the government. He has also announced that this serious issue will be raised vigorously in the upcoming Parliament session and Lok Sabha meetings so that these youth of Bihar can get justice. For the opposition parties, this issue is proving to be a big weapon against the poor employment, education system and the system which is becoming a police state.
