Powerful leaders of Jharkhand : Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren has created history by taking oath as Chief Minister for the fourth time. Hemant Soren has become the 14th Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Hemant Soren has become the most powerful leader in the history of Jharkhand politics. Hemant Soren’s government is the only one to come to power twice in Jharkhand. But there was a time when Hemant Soren stayed away from politics.

Hemant Soren wanted to go abroad and study. Hemant Soren’s dream was to obtain an engineering degree and higher education. Hemant Soren also took admission in Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi after completing his intermediate studies from Patna High School. After studying from here, he had made up his mind to go abroad, but during that time something happened in his life that he was forced to leave his studies midway and join politics.

Hemant Soren was born on 10 August 1975. Just a month after his birth, his father Shibu Soren surrendered. Many cases were registered against him regarding the tribal movement.

After the formation of Jharkhand, the first election results came in March 2005. In this election, Hemant Soren was also contesting from Dumka seat but he lost to independent Stephen Marandi.

After this Hemant Soren decided to leave politics. It is said that he returned to photography and sketching. He took admission under government quota to study mechanical engineering in Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi.

Hemant was completely busy in studies, wanted to go abroad for further studies. Meanwhile, on May 22, 2009, Durga Soren, elder brother of Hemant Soren and elder son of Shibu Soren, died suddenly due to kidney failure. During that time Durga Soren was the working president of JMM.

He was in charge of the entire state. After the death of his brother, the entire responsibility of the party suddenly fell on the shoulders of Hemant Soren.

It was only due to increasing age and poor health that Hemant Soren’s father Shibu Soren could become active in central politics. In such a situation, Hemant Soren had to leave his engineering studies midway and join active politics. After which he never looked back. The result of this is that today Hemant Soren has become the most powerful leader of Jharkhand.

In 2009, Hemant Soren contested the Jharkhand Assembly elections along with his father. This time he reached the assembly by defeating Stephen Marandi from Dumka seat. After this election, JMM formed the government and on 30 December 2009, Shibu Soren took oath as the CM of Jharkhand. However, this government did not last long and fell in 2010.

In fact, in April 2010, BJP had presented a no-confidence motion against the Manmohan Singh government. Where JMM supported UPA. This was seen as a betrayal in Jharkhand. At that time Hemant Soren also apologized to BJP for his father’s mistake but BJP did not agree and the government fell. After this President’s rule was imposed. But then BJP formed the government with JMM.

On July 13, 2013, Hemant Soren became the Chief Minister for the first time. This government lasted for one and a half years. After this, JMM lost in the assembly elections on 23 December 2014, after which Hemant Soren had to resign.

Hemant Soren remained away from power for five years but kept preparing his political pitch, which benefited him in the 2019 assembly elections. Hemant Soren became the CM of Jharkhand for the second time on 29 December 2019 by winning the assembly elections.
