Such a shocking and filmy incident has come to light from Seemanchal area of Bihar which has shocked the police administration, intelligence agencies and the general public. Generally, incidents of small children or minors leaving their homes without informing come to light, but when five minor friends go out together in the name of visiting the Durga Puja fair located at a short distance from their homes and the next moment they reach the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, about fifteen hundred kilometers away from Bihar, then this case seems to be no less than a deep mystery. This sensational case related to Mansahi police station area of Katihar district has become a topic of discussion in the entire state these days. No one is able to understand how the five girls of such a young age, without mobile phones or any other means, traveled such a long distance and reached Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. To solve this complex puzzle, Katihar Police launched a war-footing operation and within just a few hours, they solved this mystery and captured all the girls safely, but the real background behind this has raised many big and serious questions.
This entire incident happened in the past during Shardiya Navratri when there was a lot of excitement about Durga Puja everywhere and people were engrossed in the joy of the festival. Five minor girls from different families from a local village under Mansahi police station of Katihar district had left their homes in the evening to visit the Durga Puja pandal and fair organized around Mansahi Haat and Rangra Chowk. The family members had no idea that this simple evening was going to be the cause of the biggest worry of their lives. When the girls did not return home till late at night, the restlessness of the family members started increasing. At his level, he first started searching nearby relatives, acquaintances and possible places, but no trace of him was found. When no trace of the girls was found even after the night passed, the ground slipped beneath the feet of the family members and fearing some untoward incident or coaxing, they immediately gave a written application to the local Mansahi police station, pleading for justice and safe recovery of their girls.
Katihar District Administration and Superintendent of Police took this incident of sudden disappearance of five minor girls very seriously and kept it under the ambit of top priority. Realizing the seriousness of the case, on the instructions of the Superintendent of Police, a special investigation team i.e. SIT was immediately formed under the leadership of Sadar SDPO. This special team of SIT included selected sharp-witted policemen from cyber cell and technical branch, who without wasting a moment started investigating scientific research and technical evidence. The police first started scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed at possible railway stations, bus stands and nearby. When the police needle moved forward on the basis of technical surveillance and mobile location, the facts that emerged surprised even the police officers themselves. Technical investigation revealed a strong clue that the five minor girls had crossed the borders of Bihar by boarding a local train and were moving rapidly towards South India.
As the police investigation progressed, it became clear that the girls’ journey was the result of a well-planned plan or a sudden teenage decision. Katihar Police immediately contacted the local police and Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh and displayed excellent inter-state police coordination. From Katihar to Srikakulam, RPF and local police laid a trap on war footing and as soon as the train reached Srikakulam railway station in Andhra Pradesh, the security forces showed promptness and took the five minor girls safely into their custody. According to police records, finding the girls who had covered such a long distance within just six to twenty-four hours of the case being registered and the investigation beginning, was no less than a miracle. As soon as Katihar Police received this information from Srikakulam, the families of the missing girls felt relieved and the police administration heaved a sigh of relief. All the girls are said to be completely safe and healthy, a special police team of Mansahi police station has already left for Andhra Pradesh to bring them back.
Although a major disaster has been averted with the safe recovery of the five girls and the administration has felt relieved, there are many unresolved aspects in this entire matter which are yet to be investigated in depth. The biggest question is that without any sufficient money, without smartphone and without any outside acquaintance, how did five such young friends reach Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh after traveling alone on such a long journey of about fifteen hundred kilometers. Was there a Human Trafficking Syndicate behind this which was trying to lure minors and push them to other states, or was it a foolish and suicidal step taken in adolescence under the influence of social media or inspired by some film genre. Police officials say that when the girls are brought back to Katihar with complete security, they will be interrogated in detail in the presence of psychologists from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and their statements will be recorded. This incident has once again forced all the parents to think that in the modern era, how important it has become to keep an eye on the activities of children, their company and their mental changes, so that they can stay away from such dangerous and risky decisions.
