Due to cyclonic storm 'Dana', high alert has been issued in Bengal and Odisha and it can cause devastation in these areas before Diwali. The Indian Meteorological Department has said that cyclonic storm 'Dana' is moving rapidly in the Bay of Bengal and may hit here in the next two days. Between the night of 24 October and the morning of 25 October, this storm will pass between Sagar Island in Bengal and Puri in Odisha.

Cyclonic storm 'Dana' formed in the Bay of Bengal is moving towards the coast at a very fast speed. Although the storm is likely to reach coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha on October 25, tension has already increased in both the states. The India Meteorological Department has predicted that the storm may hit between Puri in Odisha and Sagar Island in West Bengal on the night of October 24.
Speed of 120 km will be seen
According to the alert issued by IMD, due to this cyclone, strong winds will blow at a speed of 120 km per hour, which can cause huge damage to the coastal areas. In view of this alert of IMD, schools have been closed in many districts of Odisha and West Bengal. A total of 197 trains were canceled between 23 and 26 October.
Highway and railway services will be affected
Administration in the coastal districts of Odisha and Bengal have set up schools and community buildings as relief centres. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea and efforts are being made to call back those who are already in the sea. Government agencies have appealed to the people to remain calm and follow the guidelines issued by the administration. Plans have also been made to maintain electricity, water and essential services safely for the next few days. Cyclone 'Dana' may affect highway and railway services in coastal areas for some time.
