Dubai: Currently, floods are wreaking havoc in Dubai, which is known as the desert city. The famous shopping mall is flooded. Cars are floating in parking lots and roads have become lakes. The situation is such that the airport has also been submerged in flood water, hence the runway is not visible. The city's driverless metro system has also come to a standstill. Why did it suddenly rain so much on the sandy land? Why did this flood happen? Everyone is asking the same question. Some scientists said that this is a mistake in the use of science, the consequences of which are being borne by the entire city.
According to scientists, planes were flown for cloud seeding on Monday and Tuesday. Cloud seeding is a technique through which artificial rainfall is generated. But the whole plan went awry when the cloud burst while trying to create artificial rain. It is said that the entire city was submerged and there was a flood that no one would have ever thought of in Dubai. Apart from Dubai, there is a similar situation in another city Fujairah. It rained 5.7 inches here.
One person has died in Ras Al-Khaimah due to this rain. He was passing by in his car but his car was washed away in the flood waters. The condition of Mall of the Emirates, one of the largest shopping centers in the world, became such that water started dripping from the roof. Not only this, the roofs of some shops also collapsed. People who know the weather of Dubai say that there has never been so much rain in the last 75 years of history. Sharjah City Center and Deira City Center have also been damaged due to this rain.
Flights have been suspended at Dubai Airport. Not only this, the cars parked in the parking lot are so submerged in water that it is impossible to take them out. All the houses and colonies are flooded. At present, Dubai authorities have sent tankers and are removing water with the help of pumps. Dubai has received 142 mm of rain in just 24 hours. Dubai receives an average of 94.7 mm of rainfall throughout the year. In this way, it has rained for about one and a half hours in just a few hours.
Precipitation in the UAE is generally very low. It remains almost dry throughout the year. Normal rainfall occurs during the winter months. Due to lack of rainfall, arrangements for water export have not been made now. Not only this, apart from UAE, countries like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar also receive adequate rainfall. This is the condition of most of the countries of the Arabian Gulf.
