New Delhi: To indirectly support Hamas in the Israel-Hamas war, Yemen's Houthis, present in southern Arabia, have started raining black water all over the Red Sea and Aden and the northwestern part of the Arabian Sea.
The Iran-backed Houthis used to sink pro-Israeli steamers with drone and missile attacks, but now they board any steamer that comes fast and burn the sailors and officers alive. They also kidnap someone. Then the steamer sinks.
Before they sank the Barbados-flagged steamer, an SOS (Save Our Souls) message from the steamer reached an Indian Navy frigate, and the frigate rushed towards it. Around 21 sailors and officers from the steamer were afloat with the help of lifeboats. They were rescued by INS Kaveri.
It is worth noting that the Indian warships in the eastern parts of the Arabian Sea are constantly being hit by tides. On receiving such an SOS, they immediately rush towards it. Seeing a warship flying the Indian flag, the Houthi steamers flee into the night sea. But by that time (before that) they black out any foreign steamer that comes. Hijack, board the steamer, brutally kill many people and sink the steamer. According to the Joint Maritime Information Center, they have sunk about 100 steamers so far. The center is managed by Western Naval Aviation.
The list of notable ships sunk by the Houthis continues to grow: (1) Last November, a Houthis warship flying Yemeni and Palestinian flags sank the Galaxy-GSL, owned by a British citizen. The ship was owned by a Japanese company but is majority owned by Israeli businessman Abraham Rami Ungar.
Following the incident last January, on February 18, the Houthis launched a missile attack on a ship carrying 21,000 tons of chemical fertilizer. The steamer was therefore so badly damaged that it had to be towed to Djibouti for repairs.
Then on March 2, a ship registered in Britain and operated by a Lebanese company flying the flag of the Latin American country of Belize was seized by the Houthis.
It was sunk by the Houthis near Aman Island near Amman. Then on March 6, a commercial ship named Tru-Contricons was also sunk by the Houthis.
The list goes on and on. The Houthis are so brutal that anyone who sinks a steamer posts a video of it on social media.
