Honorarium increased to Rs 9000 per month, all cases will be withdrawn and removed assistants will be reinstated.

Yogi government has given a very big and historic gift to lakhs of rural youth of Uttar Pradesh and especially to the Panchayat Sahayaks, who are considered the backbone of the Panchayat Raj system. Fulfilling the demands of Panchayat Assistants who have been struggling for a long time for increase in their honorarium, job security and against administrative harassment, the State Government has taken a big decision to directly increase their honorarium to Rs 9000 per month. Along with this, under this sensitive decision of the government, orders have been issued to reinstate with immediate effect all those Panchayat assistants who were removed from their posts due to previous movements or other reasons. Not only this, the government has also made a big announcement of withdrawing all those cases through legal process against Panchayat assistants against whom police cases were registered during the protests and demands. Since this historic decision came to light, there has been a wave of happiness in the Gram Panchayats across Uttar Pradesh and the Panchayat assistants, expressing their gratitude to the government, have pledged to engage in their work with full dedication.

In the rural areas of Uttar Pradesh, the role of Panchayat assistants is very important in the development works of Gram Panchayats, family register, birth-death certificates, online data feeding and implementation of government schemes under Digital India. But for the last few years, these Panchayat assistants were forced to work at very low honorarium, due to which it was becoming very difficult for them to support their families. Apart from this, there was huge dissatisfaction among Panchayat assistants in many districts due to problems like administrative pressure, removal of employees without any concrete reason and cases being registered by the police during peaceful protests. To protect their legitimate demands and rights, these youth had staged vigorous protests many times from the capital Lucknow to the district headquarters, and finally the positive result of their long struggle has come out in the form of this big decision of the government.

With the state government revising the honorarium of Panchayat assistants to Rs 9000 per month, these grassroots level employees will get a huge financial relief. Till now, due to receiving very meager honorarium, young employees had to face mental and financial stress, which sometimes affected the quality of their work. This increase in honorarium will not only improve their standard of living but they will also be able to contribute to the development of villages with full honesty and enthusiasm without any financial stress. The Panchayati Raj Department has clarified that this increased honorarium will be transferred directly to their bank accounts on time through DBT, due to which there will be no scope for corruption and the entire process will remain completely transparent.

The most humanitarian and relief aspect of this policy decision is that all the Panchayat Assistants who were removed from their services at the administrative level or during the movements in the last few months or years, will be reinstated to their posts. Along with this, the Panchayat assistants against whom cases were registered in various police stations by the administration during the previous protests, those cases will be withdrawn after completing the legal formalities. With this step of the government, it has become clear that it is fully committed to securing the future of its employees and doing justice to them. Now all Panchayat assistants will be able to work smoothly in their Panchayats again without any fear of any lawsuit or worry of losing their employment, which will give new impetus to rural development schemes.

After this historic decision of the Uttar Pradesh government, now the work of delivering the benefits of digital services and government schemes to the last mile person in every gram panchayat of the state will be done more quickly. When Panchayat assistants will be financially secure and mentally stress free, they will sit in village secretariats and with full concentration will do important work like portal operation, family register updating and online birth-death registration. This step of the government has not only given a new direction to the future of millions of youth but has also proved that empowerment of grassroots level workers lays the foundation of a strong and developed state. In the coming times, this team of Panchayat assistants will be seen playing the biggest and important role in changing the picture of the villages of Uttar Pradesh.
