IPL 2024: The 17th season of IPL is in full swing and the home teams have dominated in the 41 matches played so far. How much home ground advantage can a team get in the shorter format of T20? Such questions keep being discussed among the fans. However, the home team has won 23 out of 41 matches played this season. Whereas there are 18 matches in which the foreign team has won.
The role of home pitch analysis and strong fan support also becomes very important behind the dominance of home teams. This season, Punjab's home record and Bengaluru's record as a touring team have been very poor. This record is before the match between Punjab and Kolkata.
Home-Away Rajasthan's most successful team
Rajasthan Royals team led by Sanju Samson has made a record of being the most successful team on the home ground. Rajasthan has played five matches at home this season, out of which it has won four and lost the only match. An interesting record is that they have played three matches as an away team i.e. traveling team and won all three. This season, Rajasthan is the only team which has not lost a single match at the opponent's ground.
Kolkata, Lucknow and Chennai were also successful on home ground
Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings have also made the most of home pitches and conditions this season. These three teams have played four matches at home so far this season and have won 3-3 of them.
Whereas they have lost only in domestic matches. Kolkata has won two out of three matches at the rival team's ground and lost one. Lucknow has won two matches away from home and lost two. Whereas Chennai's record away from home has been disappointing. Out of four matches away from home, they have lost three and won one.
Punjab flops on home ground, visiting team Bengaluru
In this season of IPL, Punjab team as a home team and Bengaluru as a touring team have proved to be the most flop. Punjab's matches are being played in Mullanpur this time. However, this position did not work for the host team. Punjab has played five matches at home, out of which it has lost four. The Bengaluru team has so far played five matches away from home and has lost four of them.
